THOMAS RESIDENCE The opportunity to remodel a house that we had built only a few years prior was a unique experience. The clients purchased what had been the Townsend Residence and transformed it from its 1950's roots to a wholly new construct for the 21st century. John King, writing for the San Francisco Chronicle referred to it as a "jewel of cubist minimalism." The smallish 1400 square foot house was nearly doubled in size, with a newly expanded kitchen, bedrooms and generous office space for working efficiently at home. [Materials: Stucco, redwood siding, fir ceilings, oak flooring, powder-coated steel railing (exterior)] BEFORE: Rebuilt on a 1950's floorplan « Back to Projects |
